Stay over Bludger

Last week Bludger did stay over at our home for a week. Owners did get a deserved holiday in France and we had Bludger. Bludger is a pup from our second litter and now 3 years old.
Could not resist to put some pictures on line, so enjoy, we did.

ovulation by ultrasound

I've been doing some reading, and until now have known of finding when your bitch is ovulating by Progesterone Tests and LH surges. I've finally gotten to the most recent book I've acquired on breeding. I got it at a Royal Canin Seminar; Breeders Handbook - Canine Reproduction.
It reads that monitoring the ovaries by ultrasound is the most accurate technique to know the moment of ovulation.
I can't find this book ANYWHERE online so I've attached a couple pictures of the pages I'm reading from.
Has anyone done this method of monitoring ovulation through ultrasound? I find this very interesting am now wondering if my vet would do this too...lol.

Magnum smells bad

Hey everyone...

It has been a while since i was last on here... well ever since some Gucci girl left a bad taste in my mouth i have not been back.

Anyhow, i have missed it and now and back because i need it!

Started last week, Magnum had a bad smell coming from his bum. I thought it was his anal gland that needed to be busted. I left it for a day thinking it would take care of itself but didn't. So then i tried to do it myself and nothing came out. The smell got worse so i would wash him down a couple of times a day and called his groomer thinking that i just didn't expell it properly. We got there and she said it was just about empty. So the next day the smell is still there. This weekend everytime i would wipe his bum there would be brown stuff as if his gland were leaking..... now im really stressed and his appointment is 2:00 this afternoon..... could this be something really bad?
I don`t know if i am just being paranoid but it seems like his bum is swollen out a little bit underneath, around where his glands are.

I will know more by this afternoon when we go to the vets, but my hubby said something yesterday that is really bothering me and i would like to know if anyone else experienced this before and everything was o.k
HELP!!!!

American Bullmastiff (With Long "hair", of course)

I was just in town with Teddy and one of my kids.

A slightly inebriated guy came over to us to chat. I guess he decided to tie his boat up for the day and then tie one on before operating a 7 ton vessel on his way back home. Some people like a challenge. The conversation went something like this.

Guy: "Is that an American?"

H: "An American what?"

Guy: "An American Bullmastiff?"

H: "What?"

Guy: "An American Bullmastiff."

H: "Oh God, no".

Guy: "I got one of those."

H: "You got what?"

Guy: "An American Bullmastiff. My neighbor has a regular bullmastiff and it has much shorter hair than mine."

H: "Geez."

Guy: "Between the two of them they weigh 300 lbs".

H: "Wow!"

Guy: "How much does he weigh?"

H: "190"

Guy: "Yeah, mines a little bigger than that."

H: "I gotta get him some water, good luck."

Here's a picture of the painting my mom did of my kids! I love them. It's her first time doing watercolor, so the one of our Akita mix is a little "off" but it still looks so much like her. She used to do portrait paintings of people and scenery in oil paintings, which I personally like better, but I'm so proud of my mommy's work I had to show it off!

I've heard a multitude of opinions on why some breeders health test while others choose not to. I'm not going to give my opinion on that, instead I choose to put all of Camo's health testing out in a public place, even the tests that OFA doesn't track. I created this google site ages ago and put some pictures in there that I really like. Then I started adding all Camo's health testing. He's suppose to have already gotten his MCOA Gold Health award, but that's still in the works with the powers that be. Yes I know it's a little over kill, but after some petty people started some untrue rumors about my boy, I was a woman on a mission to prove them wrong. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- SECAUCUS, N.J. - September 3, 2010 - The Hartz Mountain Corporation is voluntarily recalling one specific lot of Hartz Naturals Real Beef Treats for Dogs due to concerns that one or more bags within the lot may have been potentially contaminated with Salmonella. Hartz is fully cooperating with the US Food and Drug Administration in this voluntary recall.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems, all of whom are at particular risk from exposure and should avoid handling these products.

Salmonella symptoms may include fever, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and nausea in both dogs and humans. Anyone experiencing the symptoms of Salmonella infection should seek immediate medical attention. Owners of dogs exhibiting these symptoms should also seek veterinary assistance.

Hartz Mountain Corporation is recalling 74,700 8-oz bags of Hartz Naturals Real Beef Treats for Dogs, lot code BZ0969101E, UPC number 32700-11519, which were imported by Hartz from a Brazilian supplier, Bertin S.A., and which were distributed to a number of customers in the United States. While regular testing conducted by Bertin (prior to shipment to the US) did not detect the presence of Salmonella in any packages of this product, random sample testing conducted by FDA did indicate the presence of Salmonella. Hartz is aggressively investigating the source of the problem.

Although Hartz has not received any reports of animals or humans becoming ill as a result of coming into contact with this product, Hartz is taking immediate steps to remove the product from all retail stores and distribution centers. Dog owners having purchased this product should check the lot code on their bag, and, if the code is not visible, or if the bag has lot code BZ0969101E imprinted thereon, they should immediately discontinue use of the product and discard it in a proper manner.

Consumers can contact Hartz at 1-800-275-1414 at any time with any questions they may have and for information on how to obtain reimbursement for purchased product.

Hi there. I was wondering if anyone can receommend a panty for bitches in heat that actually stays on. My girl will not be confined to a room or area in my home during her heavier flows, tried this. Just want to be prepared for next time a little better. Any input would be appreciated.
