Can we get a thread started that lists websites for all Mastiff (and other large-breed focused) rescue organizations all in one place?

TIA.

Okay, so I have to admit I thought Darren's idea was so good that I kind of stole it...

Here's my plan. I am building a website completely independent of any chat boards or breeder's websites that is strictly a site for people looking for rescues. It will have each state to click on (sorry, no clue how to make a map that does that so it will have to be just the state name). Under each state, I'll have the reputable (and I stress reputable because there's some sketchy rescues out there) rescue organizations available for each state with a link to their website or their email contact. I know some states have several so all will be listed that I know about. PLEASE submit websites to me as it'll take me a few days (weeks depending on what I run into to) to set up and HOPEFULLY cover every state. I'll also set up an information page about Mastiffs and their care (another area I will be asking for help). Of course, there will be a blurb about "no puppy mills or byb" lecture that we've all given a million times. I cannot stress enough that this will be strictly a rescue site and will IN NO WAY tie to any breeder's sites including mine. I would really appreciate any help anyone can give (mainly, websites and contact information for the reputable organizations). Once I get it up and running, I'd like to have the home page "feature" really great rescues or ones like Thelma and Louise that REALLY need our help. I'd want to alternate it every couple of weeks. The web address is purchased so the next step is accumulating all the information. I hope everyone thinks its as good an idea as I did. Thanks Darren for thinking of it!!!!  Of course, it's a blank page today but hopefully in two weeks we'll have a central rescue page! The address will be http://www.englishmastiffrescue.net. I do not want to step on anyone's toes here and really want this to be a cool way to find rescue. If there's something I'm not thinking of, please let me know before I sink the next two weeks of my time into building it. Thoughts, ideas, objections....???

I don't have a lot of experience with this rescue but figured I would share it. They have been very helpful the few times I called for basic info (for a dog I was considering adopting). Located out of Yakima, wa.

Kudos to you, Teresa!  This is far better than what I was hoping for when I made the post --- I'm glad you took the idea and are running with it.  I can't wait to see the finished project.

Looks good so far. I could easily navigate it with my phone.

This is such a good idea! I hope this site blesses many deserving families and Mastiffs!

Awesome job Teresa.

can the link to the new site be on a breeder's web page so people looking for a puppy can see it?

Absolutely. Every breeder is welcome to use the site as a link to rescue.

I'm still accumulating data so if I've missed your favorite rescue, please drop me a note. It's a time consuming process and i don't want to leave anyone out.

Is it possible that if our Veterinarians wanted to ..they could link in as well?

Sometimes people go to them to ask about surrendering.

To whoever actually executes it, this is a wonderful idea!  Having helped set up SSMR's site, I know for a fact that, while most rescues include a contact list for regional rescues, those lists are seldom updated.  When I was state coordinator, I developed my own list of contacts.  One consolidated up-to-date maintained list for public access would be wonderful and a site like WMF would be a logical place to provide a link to it.  I haven't checked the MCOA site lately but is it current and complete?  It would be wonderful to provide it on a map so that anyone needing to find an organization could just click on the appropriate state.

I couldn't figure out how to do an actual map, but I just put all of the states in alphabetical order with each one being linked to the active rescues. I still have several states to do but it's coming along... Here's the home page:
http://www.englishmastiffrescue.net   Here' Alabama:

We do not breed often, but we do our best to breed top quality mastiffs
with excellent pedigrees to back them up. All breedings are carefully planned to produce
the very best mastiffs, sound in both body and mind, beautiful and strong,
representing the true mastiff standard.

We fully test our dogs. We believe that a person that "just wants a pet" has a right
to own a beautiful, well bred dog that is sound and healthy
every bit as much as someone wanting a "show dog".
