We do not breed often, but we do our best to breed top quality mastiffs
with excellent pedigrees to back them up. All breedings are carefully planned to produce
the very best mastiffs, sound in both body and mind, beautiful and strong,
representing the true mastiff standard.

We fully test our dogs. We believe that a person that "just wants a pet" has a right
to own a beautiful, well bred dog that is sound and healthy
every bit as much as someone wanting a "show dog".

Thank you Linda, this is priceless!!

It would be great if the MCOA would post it under the Past Specialty Winners for 1971-1972-and 1973.

The most amazing thing about Thor and his specialty wins was that the third came after he had been relinquished by his owners and was picked up at a shelter by a new owner weighing around 80 pounds and was nursed back to health to win the specialty at I think around 7 years old!

Hi,  I am the person that rescued Rumblin Echo's his majesty THOR. My late husband Donald Geil and myself rescued Thor from Prince William County pound in Virginia. We had no idea what a mastiff was............ After some research we were put in contact with Dr. William Newman, he was the only one that said "I will help you 100% with THOR". WE then became close friends with Bill. He became my daughters godfather and we spent many weeks at each others homes. Our Mastiff life began then 1973, and ended in 2002 with the sudden death of my husband. I have remarried and we both are active volunteers with The Humane Society of Marion County here in Ocala Florida. I am now 64 and retired.

Kudos to you Pat and your late husband!

He was certainly atypical of many Mastiffs in his day.

I remember him well and had the good fortune to have placed hands on him.

His was a unique story that is destined to become Mastiff lore!

A photo I took of him as a senior......

Hi Steve,  I actually remember you, that was  many years ago.  Yes Thor was a gem, and changed the direction of our life, the many rescues that came after him, the other show dogs from Bill's breeding's, running in the show circuit, many mastiffs at one time, the mastiff club meetings. Buying a 6,000 sq ft house for our dogs..........lol  definitely was not what we planned being mid 20's and newly married at that time.  Pat

Have to make a correction....Ch. Rumblin Eko's His Majesty Thor won all three MCOA best of breeds while
still owned by Caroline H Fitzgerald....the silver tray is awarded when you win it 3 times in a row...what he won after being rescued from the Dog shelter was not Best of Breed, but best veteran shown by Dr. Bill...  I traveled with
Caroline to the dog shows and helped her.   I know all about Thor and his sister Ch. Rumbin Eko's Sassy Sea Nymph.   Thor finished his championship at the age of 9 mos. at the Louisville show on July 4th 1969...Sassy his sister finished her championship the day before...July 3, 1969 handled by Caroline"s
Daughter Jackie.  I showed Sassy and got best of opposite at the Atlanta specialty weekend in 1971. She was a beautiful fawn...I will post their championship pictures when i find them....they are somewhere in my 13 room house...lol

This picture is of Thor taken on our property just a few days before he pasted away, at our home in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.  We were showing our Renrock's Molly O'Dare (bred by Dr. William R. Newman) and by 'request" we showed Ch. Rumblin Echo's His Masjesty Thor in the veteran class. I too have many more pictures somewhere in our beach house in Bethany Beach, Delaware and many more in our winter home in Ocala, Florida.. Mark/ One day, I too will get around to scanning all the pictures and post them, this retirement age has me busy LOL !   ..     PAT  email address wildpony67@aol.com if you would like to talk...........

Hi Pat,

Glad that someone remembers me from that era, as most are gone. I guess it's what happens when you get into the breed in your 20's and everyone else is 50+.

Thor was atypical of the average Mastiff in his day and I've attributed that to the DDB influence.

Certainly one of the rare "memorable" Mastiffs I have known.

The one part of this famous story that I have never understood is how and why did a 3-time winner of the MCOA show BOB end up in an animal shelter?

I received my mastiff, two year old at the time, from Caroline and Jackie in 1974.. they were downsizing to an apartment and could not take their two dogs with them.. ( only could have 1 ) so I ended up with Rumblin Echo Pine Top Tally Ho.. Lord I adored that girl. I will always be grateful to Caroline and Jackie for entrusting me with Tally Ho, as she was a wonderful, sweet dog.

Linda,  I need to speak with you more...............It was the spring of 1975 when I rescued Thor from the pound. He was placed there by a person (forgot name) That Caroline had placed Thor with. We were told by this man, that Caroline asked him to watch Thor and she would be back for him. She never returned and he had no idea where Caroline was....He said also that Caroline was going thru a horrible divorce..... By any chance do you know who she left him with?...... Just for my own information.  PAT  wildpony67@aol.com

yes, Caroline was going through a divorce, she placed Thor with Jackie's Boss when they did Keypunch in College Park Md.  Jackie's Boss came to the house to pick up work and played with and loved Thor, for some reason she could no longer keep Thor and gave him to a wealthy person and If I recall Thor had an accident in the house and they took him to the pound.  Caroline also gave away Thors Champion sister, Rumblin Eko's Sassy Sea Nymph...she went to Louise Foot who showed mastiffs...she bred Sassy and got
a litter of pups..I believe they were long coat....Their mother Frieswide Susan had long hair which they showed and met Marie Moore and she asked Marie if she should breed Suzy and Marie said definitely...    Caroline gave me a brindle female..Rumblin Eko's Sweetthing.I was a senior in High School and lived near Everglades City...we bred her to Barbara Simmons male Blackheaths Wild Bill (greenie)..  we had one pup..I named him Rumblin Eko's Rhinestone Cowboy...I stayed in mastiffs til 92 ran into fertility issues.
I do love and miss having a mastiff....I keep looking and someday will have another...
Caroline and Jackie loved their mastiffs and only wanted the best for them...It is very sad and heart breaking what happened to Thor...I exercised both he and sassy everday as I lived beside them when I lived in ohio and lived with them in Maryland when they did payroll for the government.. I am back in Ohio and Carolines daughter is here as well, she lives in the same house that Thor and Sassy were born,  Hope this clears up any misunderstanding....
there was 7 in the litter and   5 became champions...the other 2 were not shown....

if anyone has any pull in the mastiff club of America, I have been trying to get Thors pic on the website where his pic is missing..  I sent a large pic to Dr. Bill but he did not have it put on...he was very angry at Caroline and blamed her for Thor going to the pound.  Its a shame that they won't put in on there...thanks...and God Bless!

attached are pic of Rumblin Eko's Rhinestone Cowboy    Also attached is Ch. RUmblin Eko's His Majesty THors AKC championship papers.

Thanks for this clarification. Children and pets always seem to suffer when relationships break up.

This is a pic of Ch. Rumblin Eko's His Majesty Thor  going best of breed, his niece went best of winners and his sister Ch. Rumblin Eko's Sassy Sea Nymph went BOS..I believe this is a Mid-west Mastiff Specialty, he won several of those also.
