HI, I've been a member here for a while. Mostly lurk. But it dawned on me that I never posted here. So here goes, I am Danielle. I live in Illinois. I am a SAHM mom of three, and my husband is a USMarine of 20 years. I have two mastiffs currently. Guinness who will be four this month and Indiana who will be one also this month. We also had a senior female rescue, but we lost her in 06. Thanks to Linda and everyone else who makes this board possible. It's great!

Hi,

My name is Mark. My girlfriend and I are the proud parents of two dogs, Bronx and Oakland. We live in Vancouver BC Canada.

Bronx is a 3 year old sheppard cross with ??? that we got from the rescue foundation Pets For Life in Alberta Canada. She is a wonderful and smart dog who has overcome being abandoned at birth to a bout with Coon Hound Syndrome that left her paralyzed from the neck down. She is now fully recovered!

Her brother is our first Mastiff, Oakland. He is almost 9 months old and is from Lynnspride in Alberta Canada. He is around 125-130 lbs and is an apricot male. He is a gentle, beautiful giant and is a great brother to Bronx.

Here are some pics of them.....

Hello to All,

I hope everyone had a safe Holiday Season.  We recently brought home a 11wk old Male Mastiff Puppy named Ringo.  What surprised me was how smart he is, picks up all his training on the first or second try, house broke in two days, amazing!

Cheers,
marie

Hi!  My name is Katrina and my husband and I are the proud owners of 5 english mastiffs:  Elijah's Thunder of Willow, Heaven's Grace, Rose of Sharon, Heaven's Magdeline "Maggie", and Elijah's Gabriel.  They are all wonderful dogs and very much family members. We are new to the Mastiff world as breeders.  We will be having our first litters hopefully this spring.
We are also new to setting up a website, you may view our site at http://www.angelsintheroommastiffkennel.com. Each one of our mastiff's come's with their own very distinct personality.  Elijah, he never meets a stranger!  Loves everyone and would drag  you down to greet a stranger pulling into the driveway! LOL! He loves his visit to the nursing home where we are both nurses.  Rose and Grace are Elijah's mates.  Rose is bold, dominant, full of herself, high strung in the playful category!  She's delightful!
Grace is meek, submissive and only wants to be loved and please!   She's a snuggler and loves her family! Gabriel is Elijah's son!  Too young to mate, wild and playful but very loving like his dad!  He looks just like him! He's been the most difficult to house break!  It will be a while before we use him as he has lots of growing and maturing to do.  But when the time comes...Maggie will be his! Maggie is my pick of them all!  She's my brindled bundle of joy!  She's got that cuddly personality and just wants to love and be loved back.  Her favorite spot in the house is snuggled on my bed!  Anyway..great to be here and look forward to getting to know you all.

Katrina

Hello, My name is Diane.  I am a mother of two wonderful daughters (8 and 9 yrs of age).  I live on 7 acres with 2 horses, 1 pony, 2 rabbits and 4 cats.
We use to share our home with a beautiful Rottie named Daisy.  She would have turned 7 in February of 2008.  She past away on Oct 31, 2007.  She was my life.  Rotties are not the only breed that I love.  I have been learning about English Mastiffs since 2000.  I love the breed!  Always wanting to learn more.  (Not that I don't love Rotties, because I do!)

Our family is not ready for a new dog right now.  We do talk about what kind of dog will we pursue when the time is right.  There are 3 breeds on the list.  English Mastiff, Rottweiler and English Bulldog.   I know I will sometime in the future open my home to another Rottie.  I just am not sure if a Rottie will be our next companion.

Since 2000 I have admired the Mastiff from afar.  Reading up on their history, temperment and character.  I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of English Mastiffs at the vet clinic I worked for as well as OB classes Daisy and I took.
Such a magnificant breed!

I look forward to meeting everyone and learning more about this wonderful breed!

Hi!
My name is Angie and I am excited to have found this site.  My husband and I have 6 cute kids and 3 cute dogs.  A 15 year old chocolate lab, Charlie, a sweet little 9 year old boxer, Chloe, and an 18 month old mastiff named Logan that we adopted about 4 months ago.  This is the second mastiff that we have been lucky enough to have.  We adopted our first mastiff when he was about 4 and were able to have him for almost seven years.  We have also had two Great Danes in the past.  We really like to have a big dog in the house!
I am hoping to learn a lot and get some great advice from all these other mastiff owners!

Hi all, and I'm glad to be joining you!  We've had Mastiffs as family members since 1988, some raised from pups and others from rescue.  After our last beloved guy died in May of '07, then moving to a new city, and being Mastiff-less for about 4 months, we decided we couldn't stand it any longer.  So, we now have a 5 m/o fawn male who has already achieved sainthood -- he is practically perfect in every way, but then, that's been our experience for 20 years with this wonderful breed.

I've enjoyed reading this for many months now, and finally got up the courage to join this august group.

Hi there! I'm Care', wife to one and mother to 11...3 kids, 5 dogs and 3 cats.  Our newest baby is a 9 week old mastiff rescue named Aine(awn-yuh).  We got her at 5 weeks, 4days old and she is my baby.  She is doing great now(stubborn, sweet, rowdy and very busy with the teeth) but it was a little rough at the start.  I am a little familiar with the breed but could find a new question every day.  I'm going to look through posts now to find some things to occupy those teeth of hers...chewing is not her hobby it's her passion!!  A week ago Aine weighed 13lbs and was given a clean bill of health btw, big sigh of relief!   We are weaning her off the boiled chicken, rice and puppy formula now and she's doing great.  Nice to be here and thanks for having me!

Hi my name is Bonnie and I live in Spring Hill, Florida.  We are owned by Jake, our 6 yr old English Mastiff and his sister Stella, a 4 1/2 yr old Newf.  Stella came to live with us to be Jake's companion.  She rules the roost and she lets him think he is boss.  They are our babies!  Jake is our 2nd mastiff.  Max who was our first died from bone cancer when he was 4.  Jake came from Pearl River, NY.  He could have been a show dog but his breeder wanted him to be in a loving, caring home (not that show homes aren't) but we really wanted him.  She decided not to place him in a show home but with us.  We have been eternally grateful.  He is the love of my life.

I am Maggie Kornicks. I hope to grow into a trusty family as my parents have been. I have a older sister Scarlet and a younger brother Lucas. At the present time we do play with each other while I learn the ropes of this life. My parents are beginning to let me experiment in what life has to offer.
They mentioned that there are other children out there waiting to be born and come into this world to make others happy.

Hello everyone!

It's great to find a place where people love their pets like we do!!!  My husband & I are owned by 2 furbabys:  Rosie - our first EM, who is 6 years old and Gunner - our recently rescued EM, who is 3.  We also have 3 cats who have found their way into our hearts!  Oh yeah, we also have 3 grown children and 2 grandchildren....guess I shouldn't leave them out!

Looking forward to reading about your mastiffs & learning from the experiences you share.

PS - thanks Candance - for telling me about this site!

Hello To All,

My name is Amber, I live in northern Iowa.  I am not new to the Mastiff breed, but am new to showing.  My family and I, are owned by 7 beautiful mastiffs, and an ol cross-upped maid that is 9 y/o.  I ventured on here, hoping to learn more about showing.  We have hired a handler due to me being way to nervous, and I would ruin my boys time in the ring if I took him out.  My boys shows next month. He just turned 6 months old on the 13 of January.

I am a stay at home mom, but also help out on the farm when I am needed. We raise swine, beef, row crop, hay, and a few AQHA horses. Horses along with my family ( mastiffs included) are my passion.

I am looking forward to meeting you all,

Thanks,
Amber

Hi my name is Steve and I'm a Bellaholic.
My Mastiff (Bella, short for Tinkerbell) is a rescue, that I have had for the last 4 months. She is currently approx 15 months old (not sure since we don't have her papers). She is small for a mastiff, but she is beautiful dog. Her paperwork from the rescue simply calles her an Apricot colored Mastiff, but she is most likely a OEM/Bullmastiff mix. She actually looks like an exeptionally good looking Bullmastiff. The reason I chose her for adoption was because I wanted an OEM, but my top priorities were good temperment, health and youth in that order. When WC Mastiff Rescue contacted me they said she was one of the sweetest mastiffs they have ever seen and that she was young and looked very healthy. Because of her temperment and young age I had them send me some pics. At that point I was hooked. I drove 300+ miles to get her and I have not regretted it for a second. When they said she is sweet they didn't lie. She is absolutly the most affectionate creature I have ever met. She seems to love all people and she is absolutly nuts about kids. We have completed begining dog obediance training at petsmart and we are currently doing well in their intermediate training course.
Thanks for having me.

Now that I posted a "New Member" thread, I see this - oops, I'm always getting ahead of myself.  Anyway, here is my introduction:

My name is Jen and I live in a small town in Pennsylvania with my family - husband, 2 children (3 and 6) and my fur baby - Maggie Mae.  Maggie turned 1 in October and is just a sweetie pie.  We are going to add another little boy (fur baby) in a little over a month.  We're getting a pup from Deb (Jader) and we are so excited.  Here are a few pictures of Maggie:

Hi everyone my name is Tammy and I am so excited that I found this forum! It is going to be so nice meeting and talking to people about the English Mastiff breed. I just got a female and she is 12 weeks old. So sweet and pretty and very smart! We took her for her 2nd set of shots last week and the vet said she was going to be huge. My husband is so in love with her that now he wants one too. So we are looking for a male to call his very own. He already has a name picked out. lol I am just weary about sending money to someone I don't know. I have heard of too many puppy scams. We got her local and she was the last one left. So if anyone knows a reputable breeder please let me know. I'm so excited to be owned by a English Mastiff and can't wait to start meeting new people!

Hi, My name is Bridget and I happened to jump to help my sis in a pinch and enter the ring with her puppy and now I won't give hime back! Fortunately for me its horse breeding season! So my sis is still letting me show her boy! I'm learning alot everytime I go out and  have started handling class. Thanks Jamie for letting me do this. I've not been at this long but feel so fortunate to have met so many very nice people! (Brooksville & Ocala) Looking forward to Valdosta & Tallahassee too!
My 8 yo son has already gotten his Jr handler # so he will begin in Ocala in March. I suspect Baseball and Cubscouts will win out but in the meantime-what a great experience for our whole family!
I am enjoying being a "Mastiff Auntie" to Jamie's sweet boy "Tug".
Tug has been a source of such joy at our house I'm really pleasantly surprised. He is always very happy to see Wyatt and they have so much fun.

I can see why there is a "MASTIFF SWEET SPOT"

PS -mastiff's love Scotties too!
sorry -too ignorant to post pics!

Hi everyone,
My name is Donna and I live in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada
I have 1 Mastiff... Boston who is 11 months old today. Just a big lovable teddy bear. I have always been a German Shepherd girl and I actually have 2 of those as well. I fell in love with the Mastiff breed a few years ago after seeing one in person in the park. I can't wait, I am awaiting a response from the breeder next month to see if I will get another boy. I am trying to get some pics up on the web site of him but I am having problems my file pictures are too big, any suggestions?

Hello!
My name is Victoria and I am a proud friend of 10 months old Aron Golden Titan Abbas Cane aka Thor  He is the best puppy ever (even though people get a bit of a shock when I am telling him that he is still a puppy

I am from Russia but for the moment I am working in Sudan. It's a bit problematic to get a proper answer to my questions in this country and even though I am fetting a lot of advice from my breeder online, I still need a lot of it as it's my first Mastiff.

cheers to all

Hi guys. My name is Ryan. I'm from the Philippines and i currently own these three Mastiffs:
1. Noah - male fawn, 2 years and 2 months old, picky eater, loves to play fetch and go on road trips.

2. Bailey - female fawn, 1 year and 5 months old, loves to eat and wrestle with her pal Noah. also, loves to take the occasional dip in the pond.

3. Amira - female brindle, 2 years and 11 months old, our recently adopted addtion, loves to jump up on people to show her affection.

i've owned Mastiffs for 2 years. i'd always wanted an EM but i never expected it to be a perfect match for me. i've fallen in love with the breed and, although i am a dog lover, the Old English Mastiff is my undisputed #1 dog breed.

Hello-

I am John Parker, a pathologist in Louisville, Kentucky. I have two mastiffs, CH Pegasus Taylor's Lewy Man, RN and Pegasus Taylor's Yosemite Sam, CD, RE. We have competed in conformation, but my true interest is obedience. Would love to hear from other mastiff owners who compete in obedience.

John

Hello!
I am Cathi, and I live in Alaska. My husband and I have replaced 3 grown children with 5 furry ones. Our love of Mastiffs started out by accident. One cold fall morning a cute little puppy was sitting on my door step as I was leaving for work. I was in a hurry, so I put him in our guest cabin where it was warm, gave him some food and water and left to work. I posted pictures all over and called all humane societies but no one ever claimed him. I already had 2 cairn terriers and really wasnt in the market for another dog, but he was such a sweet boy that I decided to keep him. I thought he was a lab/and maybe shepherd mix, but my Vet informed my he was more the mastiff type. Because of my love of him, and after a lot of research, I decided I wanted a purebred Mastiff, and my wonderful husband surprised me with a fawn female on our 25th wedding anniversary. She is absolutely gorgeous and my sweet baby. Well I am now hooked on the breed and we just purchased our second Mastiff, a male who is just 9 weeks old..what a cutie he is!
He is our show puppy, and have high hopes for him to do well in the show ring!
I will try to post some pictures...Here is one of my female..Willow

I'm a new mastiff owner. Frank is 11 months old, 122 pounds and is just a wonderful dog. I have three other non-mastiffs, two 16 year olds (aka "The Old Farts") and a 2 year old lab mix (aka "Edgir"). Everyone gets along just fine, aside from one of the old farts that growls at anything vaguely resembling a puppy. Frank walks on his leash without tugging, sits, stays, lays, retrieves wubba, plays tug with Edgir and eats lots of large breed puppy food. Lots and lots of large breed puppy food. Oh my, oh my, so very much large breed puppy food.

What else should I be feeding this guy?

Thank you, from Missouri. I'm sure I'll glean a great deal more about what to expect from and how to care for Frank here on the forum than the other sources I've perused so far.
